I spent the night in Mönchengladbach, and then took the train to Frankfurt, by way of Köln (Cologne). I passed the morning looking at the magnificent Köln Dom, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe, and the largest in Germany.

Inside the train station is a mini shopping mall. [more]
The main lobby of the Hauptbahnhof has a great glass wall which gives an excellent view of a side entrance to the Dom.
These stained glass windows date from the middle ages and contain the coats of arms of the bishop who sponsored them.

This gold box contains the remains (allegedly) of the Three Wise Men (Magi) who came to visit the baby Jesus. [more]
The newest organ was donated to the cathedral to celebrate its 750th birthday a few years ago. [more]
This cross predates the cathedral - the crucifix was carved over 1000 years ago, and was moved to this cathedral 750 years ago when it was built.
Many bishops are buried inside the church, in these marble coffins, with statues of themselves on top. [more]
