A few years ago I was very actively learning the art of photography, using my collection of manual-focus Minolta camera equipment. These days I mainly use a digital point-n-shoot, but you can view samples of my film work here.

You can also see some of my pictures taken during my travels in the travel section of this site. I was sent to Germany on a business trip in August 2001, and took a few extra days for sightseeing. You can read my travelogue and view pictures here.

My mother has been making good use of her digital camera lately. She has an Apple iBook and we've been helping her master using iPhoto to manage her photos.

Lately she's been going around and snapping pictures of flowers: in her yard, in neighbors' yards, wherever. Here are some of the best, which I helped her upload to Flickr. If you see any you like, click through to Flickr and post a comment there.

Cliff House

I went to the Cliff House with my wife Holly and her brother Jim at dusk on Saturday (March 11, 2006), and we spent some time taking pictures of the stormy sea at dusk.

Click the big picture to go to the set page on Flickr, or go to an individual photo. Or, you can view a slideshow of the photos.

Big Sur Coast
Driving along Highway 1 in California affords some of the most
 breathtaking views I've ever seen
Luis Obispo, is one of the best spots. Every turn reveals an
incredible scene. Here we see the rugged coastline with the grasses
just changing from green to summer yellow.

Roadside Rest for a Butterfly
We were heading north along US 101 in northern California, and stopped
in some small town for groceries
where you have to stand at a 45 degree angle to keep from being
knocked over. In the parking lot near our van, I spotted this poor
butterfly, taking shelter beneath the concrete curb, waiting for the
 wind to subside.
